Have you ever heard of a pig that doesn’t smell, is easy on fencing and doesn’t terrorize the pasture? If not, let me introduce you to mine…
The Kunekune pigs are an excellent pasture pig in a manageable size. Their short snout makes them less prone to rooting and they are able to maintain ‘pig’ status on grass pasture and a minimal amount of pellets. They are a docile breed which allows us to keep a boar on site as well. They are friendly creatures and do best in pairs or more. Due to the breed being introduced into the United States in the mid 1990’s, there is still limited stock and registration of piglets is critical to ensure accurate lineage.
Our pigs are registered stock and are all double wattled. They make excellent pets and pasture grazers. They also make excellent pork. They are considered a lard pig and are cautioned to be kept from getting too overweight. Adult KuneKune’s can range from 100-400 lbs depending on diet and bloodlines. Whether you are looking for a pasture grazer, a meat source, tallow for soap or just a cute pet, KuneKune’s are an excellent choice!
